BROCKTON — A 33-year-old Randolph man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Brockton that left a 59-year-old man dead and a 61-year-old man injured, prosecutors said.
Brockton police responded to a report of a double stabbing at 23 Melrose Ave. on Monday evening. Brockton police then notified State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office of the stabbing at about 7:40 p.m.
"The two male victims were transported to area hospitals," the DA's office said in a written statement. "One male victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead of his injuries."

The victim who was killed has been identified as 59 year-old William Hewlett, the DA's office said. The second victim, a 61-year-old man, was treated and released from South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, the office said.
"As a resulting of the active and ongoing investigation, Massachusetts State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Kevin Digregorio, 33, of Randolph," the statement says.
Vermont State Police and U.S. Marshals located Digregorio on Wednesday morning sleeping inside a vehicle along a roadway in Lunenberg, Vermont, the DA's office said. He was arrested and will be arraigned on murder and other charges in Brockton District Court pending the outcome of the rendition process in Vermont.
"The investigation is ongoing, but preliminarily, this does not appear to be a random act of violence," the DA's office said.
