Old North End bakery and breakfast spot blows a chef's kiss - for farewell.
Correction: Owners of Nunyuns Bakery have decided to close the restaurant. The store name was misspelled in an earlier version of this story.
An ever popular breakfast spot in Burlington's Old North End will roll the dough for the last time the end of this month.
Nunyuns Bakery & Café announced via social media it plans to close the eatery on the last day of May. The café is known for its sweet and savory baked goods as well as its hot breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Nunyuns had become a staple for those in the neighborhood but attracted visitors from all over the area. A look at the Facebook comments on the post about its closing reveal how much it means to the community.
Husband and wife team Kristine Harbour and Paul Bonelli opened the shop on the corner of North and North Champlain streets in 2008. In their Facebook post, they said the building that houses the bakery is for sale and seemed like the right time to move on.
"This is a bittersweet decision but a good one for us. We will certainly miss our beloved bakery, customers, friends we've made and especially our 4 legged friends but it's time for a change." They also expressed thanks to everyone who supported their small business.
What will they do next? It's unclear from their public post.
