Tee times, pairings for the 2024 Vermont Amateur at Burlington Country Club
Bryson Richards' bid for back-to-back crowns and a third title since 2021 begins this week as the Vermont Amateur returns to Burlington Country Club for its centennial year.
The 118th edition of the Vermont Amateur will welcome a field of 123 golfers. The three-day, 72-hole tournament opens Tuesday morning.
Richards, the former U-32 High School and Rhode Island star, captured last summer's Vermont Amateur on his home course at Country Club of Barre for his second championship. Burlington Country Club's Michael Walsh, runner-up to Richards in 2023, is also in a field that includes 17 of last year's top 20 finishers.
Other recognizable golfers are Garren Poirier, the 2020 winner, and Evan Russell, who won a thrilling playoff for a second straight Vermont Amateur title in 2014 when BCC last hosted the championship.
This year's tournament is the 16th time BCC, located in Burlington's hill section neighborhood, will serve as host. The club is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Seventeen of last summer top-20 finishers who are entered to play are: Richards (first), Walsh (second), Austin Giroux (third), Taylor Bellemare (fifth), Cody Semmelrock (sixth), Russell (seventh), Eric Lajeunesse (eighth), Troy Evans (ninth), Troy Goliber (10th), Lucas Politano (11th), Poirier (12th), Cory Jozefiak (13th), Brody Yates (14th), Mathew Smith (15th), Alex Leonard (16th), Ryan Bloomer (17th) and Nick Ojala (18th).
After Wednesday's second round, the top 40 players, including ties, make the cut and will play in Thursday's 36-hole finale.
